As the year goes on and grows darker with each passing day it becomes more difficult to fit one’s routine hike into a schedule already bombarded with work. The problem is darkness; the solution, light. I believe it is time to invest in a nice head lamp as I continue to trek through the Columbia River Gorge these following seasons. Perhaps this way I won’t have to run on a healing sprained ankle across an overgrown darkening ridge and down a pitch black canyon. All that was visible near the end of this 9 mile round trip was the torrent of white water next to me. It was perfect.
