Photo Of The Week: 06.05.09

May and June have had stunningly beautiful weather with the exception of only a couple of rainy days. One is today - it is very crummy outside and I’m feeling under the weather - the other was practically one month ago to the date. It seemed fitting that in light of these things I’d play an easy card and pull something from my archives for the POTW.
Initially aiming to climb Bald Mountain at the base of Mt. Hood our hopes were dashed to pieces by the local Zig Zag Ranger District who informed us of heavy snow pack and bridge closures. After an hour of raiding the Forest Service’s map and information center we headed a little southwest toward Boulder Ridge, still within the Mt. Hood National Forest. The relentless rain at the start of our journey became torrential as we began hiking and only worsened with elevation gain. At the end of it all I was no wetter standing inside waterfalls, ten times in size to the one shown below, than if I were hiking under the canopy of trees. The 05.06.09 Portrait is from this day.
