Reportage - RED E: 05.18.09

Coffee Beans

A new coffeehouse is about to impact the Portland scene in a huge way serving unique coffees, emphasis on plural. That they will leave many speechless regarding their qualities is just one fine point about Red E. One attractive amenity to mention about such variety is that of serving Intelligentsia’s Black Cat espresso. Additional cool features include more outlets than one can count, friendly staff and beautifully hand crafted interior design. A huge thanks to Mindy Farley & Keith Miller simply for providing such an excellent environment! They should open sometime this week and are located on N. Killingsworth at Michigan.

This shop will be taking Portland’s coffee scene to the next level. Looking forward to all the Red E has to offer.

Do you deliver to Binghamton, NY and if so, can you guarantee it will be hot?

Definitely worth checking out this shop. They’re brewing some really great stuff over there. I had a double espresso of single origin Sidamo that was *really* smooth.

The single origin coffees are from Mathew Higgins of Coava Coffee Roasters. They’re situated only a few blocks away from Red E and provide hands down the best tasting espresso I have ever had. Matt says of his Ethiopia Yirgacheffe Kochere, “Ultimately my goal was to make this as complex, fruity, sweet and citric as possible.” (Cited from source Coffee Is Food website.) I know first hand that Matt achieved his goal with that particular coffee as it tastes like a sugar coated blackberry- it is delicious!
