Alpine Running organizes trail running events. Based in Central Oregon, many of their courses cover the state's lesser known mountain regions, such as the old cascade crest trails and Elkhorns. Race directors Janessa Taylor and Trevor Hostetler have established rugged races that range from a half marathon to a hundred miles.
My relationship with Alpine Running first started as a participant. After completing a few of their races myself, including Elkhorn Crest 53 mile and the Old Cascadia 100 mile, I transitioned into being a race photographer for all of their events. My past experiences on their courses, as well as with running ultras, meant I not only knew the best locations, but could often cover as much ground as the runners themselves.
